Shared Bathrooms

Sharing the bathroom with the help... I didn't realize this was such a huge issue.  As the author writes about it, I'm finding myself wondering how these black ladies just sat back quietly and allowed such nastiness to happen.  Its so hard for me to understand this.  Anger burns in my heart as I read how she listened to the ladies club talk about how awful it was to share the bathroom with their Help.  Really?  Its a bathroom.

The baby

Really?  The baby is basically being raised by the Help.  The mother wants nothing to do with her.  She clearly has formed a bond with Ms.  I found this to be so sad.  The way that she cries for her mother and the mother just pushes her off on the help.  Was this practice common then?  Did everyone allow the help to raise their babies?  Is this how celebrities do it today?  Poor kids.
